Reiki

Reiki is a spiritual healing art that uses hands on healing which a universal energy is transferred through the palms to the patient.

Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of activating the spiritual healing process of the patient’s body and restore physical and emotional well-being. It can ease tension and stress and help the body to facilitate an environment for healing on all levels-physical, mental and emotional.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a healing medallion that can get the body to reach a point of relaxation where it can heal itself; parasympathetic. In a session, emotional and psychical concerns can be discussed and how we can figure out a way to resolve each of them.

There are many wonderful benefits of Reiki both on a spiritual level and a psychical. It’s a very simple process, but produces quite profound effects. The main purpose of a  Reiki treatment is not only to support the physical body, but also to promote a positive mind, so you can experience more joy in life. The great thing about Reiki is that one does not have to be ill to experience the benefit.

Some come to Reiki for help with their energy levels, managing the stress of daily life or when transitions are happening in their lives. Others will come to develop themselves spiritually and experience a greater sense of meaning in life. Many of my clients are well and want to stay that way, so Reiki helps them to maintain that harmony so they can respond to the challenges differently.

After a treatment session, most people feel calm and relaxed, better in themselves,  energetic, clear-minded and productive. Many who come for treatments or training realize that balancing their systems can help them to cope better with a wide range of  health conditions, including stress, anxiety, depression, chronic pain and infertility.

Benefits

Relaxation

One of the greatest Reiki healing health benefits is stress reduction and relaxation, which triggers the body’s natural healing abilities (immune system), aids in better sleep, and improves and maintains health.

Peace

Reiki helps bring about inner-peace and harmony. It can be valuable tool in the quest for spiritual growth.

Balance

It balances the mind and emotions. Regular treatments can bring about a calmer and more peaceful state of being, giving the patient the ability to cope with everyday stress.

Clarity

Subsequent mental balance enhances learning, memory, and mental clarity. Reiki can heal mental and emotional wounds and work through dysfunction. In more severe situations, Reiki can help alleviate mood swings, fear, frustration and even anger.

Relief

Reiki offers relief during emotional distress and sorrow. Reiki helps in the grieving process. It cleans and clears the emotions, preventing them from being so draining and offers perspective.

Pain-relief

On the physical level, Reiki helps to relieve pain from migraine, arthritis and sciatica, just to name a few. It also helps with symptoms of asthma, chronic fatigue, menopausal symptoms, and insomnia.

Recovery

Reiki speeds up recovery from surgery or long-term illness. As it helps in adjusting to medicine/treatment, it also tends to reduce side-effects. For example, Chemo-therapy patients who received Reiki noticed a marked decrease in side effects from treatment.

Treatment

Reiki can be an effective way to treat immediate problems, such as physical or mental illness (recovery from surgery, but regular treatments can also improve overall health. By helping to maintain a state of physical and emotional balance, Reiki can not only treat problems, but perhaps even prevent them from ever developing.

Medical Reiki

Medical Reiki™ is the specialized practice of performing Reiki in the operating room, or other appropriate hospital or outpatient environments, in compliance with gold standards developed by Raven Keyes, the internationally recognized Reiki Master Teacher, who spent many years working in the operating room with top surgeons, including Dr. Mehmet Oz and Dr. Sheldon Marc Feldman. She has shared her knowledge with many in the USA and abroad, and has trained hundreds of Reiki Masters in this practice.

The Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic and Johns Hopkins report that many benefits of Reiki in the medical setting include: stress is relieved, pain is reduced, less pain medication is needed, hospital stays are shorter and healing is speeded. This medical study is being conducted to scientifically verify these results so that every patient can receive this assistance during surgery, if they so choose.

What is CAM?

The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine was established by the Federal Government to define and monitor research developments regarding the various complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) therapies and products.

CAM consists of various non-conventional/non-Western types of therapies or practices which can be offered with (complementary) or without (alternative) conventional medicine. CAM is a group of diverse medical and health care systems, practices, and products that are not generally considered part of conventional medicine. Complementary medicine is used together with conventional medicine, and alternative medicine is used in place of conventional medicine. Integrative medicine combines conventional and CAM treatments for which there is evidence of safety and effectiveness.

CAM

While scientific evidence exists regarding some CAM therapies, for most there are key questions that are yet to be answered through well-designed scientific studies—questions such as whether these therapies are safe and whether they work for the purposes for which they are used.

Some examples of CAM therapies include Reiki, yoga, and therapeutic touch. It defines Reiki as a type of CAM that utilizes an energy form of healing derived from an Eastern belief system.

The use of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is on the rise. According to the National Health Statistics Report “in 2007, almost four out of 10 adults (38.3%) had used some type of CAM therapy in the past 12 months”.

O’Reilly in American Medical News indicated that at least one in five hospitals offer Reiki.  A study done in 2007 by the National Health Interview Survey indicates that 1.2 million adults and 161,000 children received one or more sessions of energy healing therapy such as Reiki in the previous year. According to the American Hospital Association, in 2007, 15% or over 800 American hospitals offered Reiki as part of hospital services
